Description
Zinnia is actually the name of a genus that holds about 20 different species; some are annuals and some are perennials. It grows as a wild flower across the plains and grasslands of the southwestern region of the United States, and in South America as well. However, they are easy to spot in gardens and beds all over North America. Zinnia plants are tall, solid stalks with twin leaves and a bloom at the top. The flower is generally round; some have very tiny petals, while others have longer petals that are reminiscent of the daisy. Zinnia can be found in red, purple, yellow, white, and even pale green. Some flowers combine colors, like orange and yellow or pink and white.
